Helluva Honeymoon

While in Ohio, I found out my parents were going to have a booth at the Burlington Antique Show in Kentucky on September 17th. Since that was so close to where we were, we decided to stay in the area to rendezvous with them.  After leaving Deer Creek State Park, we stayed at Valley Vineyard in Morrow, OH.  We were greeted with a glass of champagne, a flight of beer and a private tour of the winery.  This flight with a generous serving of every beer they had cost $10! The next day, we headed west into Indiana, a state that neither of us anticipated visiting.  Kristopher has been wanting to stay at a casino since most of them offer free overnight parking for RVs.  We found Rising Star Casino situated on the Ohio River and decided to give it a shot. After fleeing Somerset Airfield, we headed west and ended up outside Binghamton, NY were we spent two nights at Chenango State Park. We are meeting some old friends of mine in Grove City, OH (outside Columbus) on Friday, so we had a series of jumps to break up the nine hour drive.  After setting up camp, Kristopher, Lambeau and I drove to Binghamton for drinks and dinner.  Since it was Labor Day, most places were closed, but we had drinks at Belmar and Indian food from Taj Tandoor.  We both ate way too much food, so we went for a walk in what we thought was downtown Binghamton.  Turns out it was the rougher part of town, but we left unscathed. One of our first stops on the trip was an organic dairy farm where we purchased grass-fed beef.  Their products were so amazing and well-priced, we wanted to restock our freezer. Apologies for the lack of updates; we have been out of cell phone and wifi service for almost two weeks. In that time, we have visited the following towns: Lincoln, NH; Newport, NH; Lake Sunapee, NH; Barre, VT; Montpelier, VT; Burlington, VT; Brattleboro, VT; Wilmington, VT and Bennington, VT. After two weeks and so many memories, my mind is blank while scrolling through the photos. I will do my best to remember the last several days. New Hampshire is GORGEOUS! Our first stop in New Hampshire was at Sugarloaf Campground in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire smack dab in the middle of White Mountain National Forest.  Since there were no Harvest Hosts or Boondockers Welcome options in the area, Kristopher found dry camping in United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service land for $20 per night.  While that rate is quite steep since we are accustomed to dry camping for free, the location made it well worth the cost. Our first adventure in New Hampshire was to Franconian Notch State Park.  We chose the Basin Cascade trail, and it turned out to be our favorite hike ever. The trailhead was loaded with people, but after our first 1/4 mile, we realized that no one was venturing past the visitor area.  We let Lambeau off leash and continued for over an hour.  The trail was rated as moderate and required us to cross the stream several times.  The trail had several waterfalls, zero mosquitos, ...
